Sow Thistle
Sonchus oleracus, Sunflower family (Compositae)
Flowers:	Light yellow dandelion-like flower to 1 1/4" wide, followed by seeds with soft white silk.
Leaves:	Dark green leaves to 7" long, wavy, thin and shiny, with rough thorny edges.
Height:	Grows to 5'.
Photographed April 5, in Superstition Mountain area. Typically found on roadsides and in disturbed ground.
